Living your dreams

In 1 on November 13, 2009 at 8:39 pm

It was mixed feeling to have come out of engineering college and stepping in to all new world, what is also called the “real world”. We heard people saying that the real world is really cruel, it has no place for emotions. Your college days are the most important days of your life which you are going to remember all your lives. You will have to work like an ass and sometimes slog to make your bosses happy all for the paycheck that you will eat up within a week it is handed over to you! Money is always green. But is it worth it?

Well, all these terrible stories we used hear from or seniors and others. But it was really exciting to wait for a job where I could enjoy and feel the Pseudo freedom by earning my money and enjoying it. Sometimes many people want a job because they needed it to prove their parents and relatives that they are worth it and mostly end up doing a job which is not worth them (blame lack of opportunities many times). However, this was not a case with me, fortunately I am still working with the same company that provided me with a great platform to start my career and exposed me to great learning and thought process. I have traveled across most of the world and seen different cultures. During my journey, I witnessed the comfortable life that people live in other countries compared to majority of population in India – thanks to technology. It is the technology that has taken these countries to a level where they celebrate humanity and create a caring environment for those in need. I was highly inspired by the West. At the same time, I realized me being engineer what is the contribution I made to the society?

I was not a high scorer or a technology genius but sure I always have been an enthusiast, interested in learning about new technologies and enterprise. I wanted to be an entrepreneur since I was very younger and wanted to do something which makes my life more meaningful. Sometimes being in good job does not guarantee you satisfaction you are looking for until your vision aligns exact parallel with those of your bosses. It has happened to me but somewhere down the line I foresee myself as the one living his dreams.

As I had this experience and realization for technological advancement, Rakesh, my partner, was also weaving similar dreams in his mind to fulfil his desire to do something for the engineering community. I have always admired his thinking and partnered him for almost all the initiatives we have taken. We shared our plans and came up with thoughts that we need to unite the bits and pieces of engineering community framework in India to complete the vision of India. This will allow us to roll out different initiatives that can make the journey of engineers more exciting and create an environment of mutual inspiration.

Rakesh came up with this concept Why?Newton for which I was sold out almost immediately. I was traveling in Eastern UP that time to get a feel of the rural needs since we also dream of connecting the Second India. Since then, we live everyday like a dream. Many ideas cross our minds everyday filling our hearts with excitement. We debate, agree and disagree as what could be potential platforms that engineers would love today. We speak with 100s of people across length and breadth of India to share their views which includes teachers, leaders, students.

As a business, we made a choice to retain our freedom of creativity until we build the foundation for Why?Newton instead of going to VC for funding and we are happy with our decisions. The excitement never seems to stop as there are compliments that make us happy and feedback to challenge our limits that we gracefully accept as a blessing. As we are continuing our jobs – we dream in day and work on weekends and nights to give them real shape. “My Engineering Story” is our first dream, and we are glad that people are liking it. We hope Why?Newton touches every engineer atleast once in their life and then probably our dream will be complete. Or may be not? ;)

My Engineering Story 2009

In Press Release on October 21, 2009 at 7:14 am

Why?Newton announced launch of the “My Engineering Story 2009” contest through its online portal www.whynewton.com, an upcoming knowledge sharing platform exclusively for the engineers – by the engineers.

“Every engineer has a story which becomes an inspiration, learning curve or simply fun to read. This small effort is to collect such stories from the Engineering fraternity in India.” – Rakesh Choudhury (Co- founder, Why?Newton)

Why?Newton, established in early 2009, is dedicated to nurture ideas and deliver solutions to benefit the engineering community in India. Time is witnessing Engineers astounding the world with their passion, creativity, determination and out of the box thinking. From creating mega structures to microchips, massive hardware to smartest software, capturing the minutest moments to designing fastest machines of the world – for Engineers the world has never been enough!

“We identified a need for dedicated place for engineers to share knowledge that reflects the technological advancement of India by tracking innovation, news, events and thoughts from the engineering community. This contest is a medium to connect engineers”, said Yogi Raj, Co-Founder of Why?Newton. The contest closes in 45 days starting today.

The best ideas shared on this portal will be incubated by Indus World School of Business, the entrepreneurship driven B-school from Career Launcher. Mr. Satya Narayanan, Chairman, Career Launcher said at the occasion, “In sync with our mission of ‘empowering minds & creating opportunities’, we are happy to associate with this engineering event. Through the event we encourage youth to share their innovative ideas and stories and would help them realize their dreams by supporting the best ideas.”

The best social act will be recognized by our NGO Partner, Sanskritik Sangam, who will provide an opportunity to participate in various events at national and international level to take the idea forward. Story of a musical band selected through the contest will be featured in the upcoming Why?Newton Engineering album, the first of its kind music albums released so far.

With India to have the third largest number of internet users by 2013, Ritesh Tanu, Manager- Online Marketing, Lime Labs India said, “Why?Newton is a unique platform and we have come forward to support it in finding ways that can help Internet community grow and benefit”.

CraftMyGift will be recognizing favorite stories from campuses across India by awarding its exclusive gifting solutions for engineering students. The event will be supported by LimeExchange, SEOtune, EPatents.in and EDC-IIT-Delhi and EDC-IIT-Roorkee among the knowledge partners. Why?Newton platform is supported by ZignDog and VoiceTap with their deep domain expertise and advanced technical skills.
